Building an email list is a priority as a business owner. Your email list is one of your business assets so get EXCITED! The purpose of an email list is to help you build a base of your ideal customers. So remember they are in fact your future buyers.

Being a marketer, you will know that email is one of our most prized communication sources. In saying that for your campaign to be successful it relies heavily on your email marketing efforts and the size of your quality list.

What Is An Email List?

An email list is a database of email addresses that a business or individual has gathered from their customers, prospects, or website visitors. An email list is used to be able to send personalized marketing messages, broadcasts, newsletters, promotions, or updates to the recipients’ inboxes.

Sometimes people call email lists “subscribers lists” or “mailing lists.”

Email Lists Allow Marketers To:

  • Drive customer engagement

  • Increase sales and conversions

The essential goal of building an email list is to increase the number of potential leads so you can convert them into future buyers.

To Get Started Understand Firstly The Process:

Visitors come to your landing page or opt-in and fill in the web form with their email address and details based on how you have it set up for which details are required.

When the email and details are captured it is then stored in an email autoresponder which is a software tool. Inside the email autoresponder, you will have set up the List Name and the email address you will be using for that campaign along with a sequence of emails.

Upon a new lead opt-in to your email autoresponder, the email sequence you have set up will fire up and start delivering emails on autopilot.

Ways To Get People To Opt In And Give Their Email Address:

People opt-in to solve a problem. They are looking for a solution.

One of the best ways to capture someone’s email is to create a lead magnet that entices them to sign up.

Without a high-quality lead magnet, there’s no lead generation.

Any one of these free offers is a great incentive to opt-in to your web form using their email address and details. Depending on your target audience and their needs, you can create lead magnets that will work best.

One idea can make you rich! So use your creativity to get the best results.

Get A Reliable Email Service Provider:

A must-have tool to build an email list is an email service provider that provide email autoresponder software.

The biggest advice I can give you is: "Do not be cheap in your journey to greatness". Cheap autoresponders are no good in the long run. Preferably use Aweber or Getresponse email autoresponder to get started and upgrade to a bigger CRM later.

Upon opening a new account with Getresponse it is approximately $15.00 - $19 a month as a subscription. Check to see if there is a trial package if you prefer.

Setting Up Your Email Autoresponder:

Set up and create a new list name with an email address that aligns with your project. Your list name is related to your funnel campaigns. You might be running a campaign for insurance vs a campaign for real estate. Name your list accordingly.

Once you have a list name use the API address to integrate with your own customized landing page your opt-in form or web forms. Your web form/landing page will be used to capture your leads. Your landing page will need that API address to be able to talk to your autoresponder email software that will store the lead. If you have chosen a company that has done all that for you then that's extremely amazing.

With your list name in place, set up your email sequence as a broadcast, to begin with. This way when someone optin to your landing page/web form they will receive the email sequence day by day automated.

What Are The Benefits Of Building An Email List?

  • It's affordable vs ad costs.

  • You can send personalized emails, but you can’t personalize ads.

  • You can automate emails.

  • Audience targeting is more precise. You can specifically target your subscribers based on specific things. Location demographics, country, or behavior. (Specific products they bought, clicked on emails)

  • You own your list. You control your list. Never depend on any company or platform for leads. Unlike social media followers or Google visitors, you own the contact information in your email list.

  • Building relationships. Email marketing gives that personalized touch vs ads where you cannot personalize

Don’t Purchase Email Lists:

If someone sends you an email sequence and you have not subscribed to it, what do you do?

Of course, you unsubscribe and/or put into the spam.

It's a waste of money to purchase an email list from an outside vendor. Those lists may have spam traps that may make future outreach attempts from you to certain websites get flagged as spam.

People know if they have subscribed or not. They will put your email into the spam box which will negatively affect your sender's reputation. Build your email list organically and reap the rewards.

General tip:

Remember that people frequently change email addresses, so be sure to delete inactive subscribers every so often.

If you write a blog post or do a video send your email list to it. Keep your email list maintained and send out regular emails keeping your email list informed. So signing up to an email service platform/ provider like Getresponse makes the whole email marketing process much more manageable.
